The Police Communication and Information Technology (PCIT) branch is the technical wing of the Maharashtra police. This branch is divided into two internal branches one is engineering persons who performs duties of installation, repairing and maintenance and second is traffic person who perform duties to control communication traffic.
The Police Communication and Information Technology provides uninterrupted wireless communication to the police vehicles, Police stations, Chaukies, road bandobast points and traffic points for maintaining all types policing.
Also, the department coordinates with other departments and organizations for executing all types of technical services for the police force. In this, types of video conferencing, internet services, CCTV system, data messaging using Satellite communication from the control room and be vigilant about it to maintain and repair to provide uninterrupted wireless communication and set up metal detectors for VIP visits. Also, maintenance of all wireless and electronic equipment is a daily task. Installation of new wireless repeater station or any type wireless station is a responsibility of PCIT branch.
