Economic Offences Wing
The work of the Economic Offences Wing is under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner of Police Crime. Also, there are Housing Unit, Banking Unit, MPID Unit, General Cheating Unit.
Fraud cases of above Rs. 3 crores registered in the police stations under Mira Bhayandar Vasai Virar Police Commissionerate are transferred to the Economic Offences Wing for further investigation by the order of the senior officers.
Since the amount of fraud in the crime is large and the crimes are complex and complicated, the bank account information and other information of the accused and their companies in the said crime are obtained, evidence is obtained against the accused, they are arrested, information about the stolen money is obtained from them, the property purchased by the accused with the stolen money, as well as the bank deposit is protected under the MPID Act.
A proposal is sent to the District Collector and Additional Director General of Police, Economic Offences Branch, Maharashtra State, Mumbai for issuing a notification under the MPID Act on protected property. After obtaining evidence against the accused and taking the approval of the superiors, a charge sheet is sent against them.
